Stress-free event travelling with style

Posted by ray | Filed under: General | @ 10:36 am

I was recently introduced to a new coach service which should be interesting to anyone planning a wedding, or any large events.

The Event Bus aims to offer a coach service with a difference. Offering not only a stress free way to transport your whole party between places, they also offer hot home made food on board so there’s no need to stop off for a kebab (I suspect you still could if you really want to). Perfect for everything from hen or stag parties, to corporate events and not to mention a stress free and classy way to ferry your guests from the church / register office to the reception venue.

Anything from a one way trip for your group between two points, to full tours. I quite fancy the catered option myself… the bus is equipped lavatory, a mini-kitchen and proper tables to eat your food on. So next time you need transport for your group, give them a call instead of the usual mini-bus company, you might just get used to the luxury.

BBC asks how hard is it to photograph a wedding?

Posted by ray | Filed under: General | @ 8:53 pm

An article appeared on the BBC website asking how hard is it to photograph a wedding.  This is a subject close many wedding photographers’ hearts, mine included. The article opens with a story about a couple successfully suing their photographer for “his shoddy coverage of their big day“.

Many readers left comments telling of their own disappointment in their wedding photos too, so it appears there are many cow-boys out there posing as wedding photographers. To think these cow-boys are ruining people’s memories is infuriating.

I’m glad that the BBC ran the story, as I sometimes find it hard to convince couples that the cheapest photographers are not necessarily the good deal they think they’re getting.

While I’m here, I want to point you to the direction of a previous post on tips on getting the most from your wedding photographer.

Hope your wedding goes smoothly. Remember, if your wedding photographs come out disappointing, you can always here me for a post-wedding shoot to make up. :)

Take care,

Ray

RHOTOGRAPHY supporting Age Concern

Posted by ray | Filed under: General,Press Release | @ 12:16 am

At a recent networking meeting, I met a nice lady from the charity Age Concern. Through this I volunteered to help take some photographs for the charity. My first assignment turned out to be the chance to photograph the former Manchester United manager Tommy Docherty at Mottram Hall Hotel, it was to help promote the charity’s forth coming Young at Heart Ball on October. Now, that’s a photo opportunity I could not turn down.

This is just one of the shots taken on the day.

Bramall Hall Wedding

Posted by ray | Filed under: General | @ 10:54 pm

Just wanted to post a couple of images taken at Lynn and Mike’s wedding at Bramall Hall, Bramhall.

Bramall Hall is one of the grandest and best preserved Tudor building in the Northwest. With a beautiful public garden, lake and stream running through the garden, it’s one of my favourite photography locations, being only a mile or two from my house is another bonus.  Unfortunately it rained throughout this wedding so we were confined to the insides of the buildin, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing because of the amazing decors and historic interests available inside.

The shots were taken in a room with original 16th century wall paintings. The room is kept fairly dark to help preserve the delicate colours on the wall paintings, so it is strictly no flash photography inside this room. Good job I was prepared.

There’s something magical about having your own wedding reception at home isn’t there? Of course having a big and beautiful garden like this one does help. Everyone had a wonderful time catching up with friends and enjoying the rare Manchester sunshine. A fantastic party!

The Swimming Groom

Posted by ray | Filed under: General | @ 12:58 am

I want to congratulate one of my groom from 2008, Richard Symons of Elite Swim School, for his winning of 4 gold and 2 silver medals at a recent swimming competition. I was privileged to be Richard and Sheila’s wedding photographer last summer.

Reflecting how big a part swimming plays in Richard’s life, one of the wedding cakes they had was in the shape of a swimming pool, complete with necklace sweets as lane dividers and four competitors ready to dive in.

I think it’s little touches like these that make each wedding special. You don’t have to spend a fortune on a designer cake or the most elaborate decorations to achieve something that is unique to you. All you need is a touch of imagination and a good photographer to capture it all for you. :)

What is our Signature Print?

Posted by ray | Filed under: General | @ 10:48 pm

I am often asked to describe our new product for 2009 the Signature Print. I would say it’s like a guest book that you can hang on the wall or something similar. No amount of words however, can illustrate it better than a photo of one, so here it is.

What we have here is a photo chosen by the couple from the pre-wedding engagement shoot that I always encourage our couples to make time for. As well as helping you get used to the camera, you also get the chance to get some nice shots of yourselves before the big day.

The print was framed by a superb local frame shop called Lazy Daisies in Stockport. Tony and his staff is very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. The results are far superior than any off the shelf frames you can ever find, and should easily last a life time.
